Dr. Matthias Hass Lecture / Wannsee Conference Exhibit
February 4 @ 7:00 PM
Lecture & Exhibit
Monday, February 4, 2019, 7 p.m.
Rodef Shalom, Levy Hall, Pittsburgh
Join us at Rodef Shalom for a lecture by German educator Dr. Matthias Hass and a special exhibit on the Wannsee Conference.
The Wannsee Conference, held in a Berlin suburb on Jan. 20, 1942, was called to coordinate the “Final Solution to the Jewish Problem.” As a result, a network of extermination camps was established in which 1.7 million Jews were murdered in 1942 and 1943. Dr. Hass will speak about the conference, where many representatives of the German administration came together to plan the genocide of the European Jews. Dr. Hass aptly refers to these individuals as “the perpetrators at their desk.”
There will be an open question-and-answer session after the lecture in which he can answer questions about antisemitism and general, contemporary issues in Europe today.
