We invite you to join us in collaboration with the Shanksville community to complete and dedicate the Kavod Garden*, a new section of the Remember Me Rose Garden, which is a loving tribute to the heroic individuals killed on the United Airlines Flight 93 on Sept. 11th, 2001. The Kavod Garden will be dedicated to the Jewish people who were onboard Flight 93 and will be a place of reflection and peace for visitors of all faiths. We are honored to collaborate with the Remember Me Rose Garden, members of the local community, and Lauren Mallinger, family member of October 27th, on this project.
We will have an approx. 30 minute long dedication ceremony at 10am followed by an optional hour of volunteering where we work on trails and final elements of the garden.
This volunteering project will take place from 10am-11:30am on October 27th at the Remember Me Rose Garden (6488 Old Lincoln Highway, Stoystown, PA 15563). This project will require lifting, digging, and manual labor. It is suitable for all ages. Please note that while most Oct. 27th volunteering opportunities are local, this site is located about 1.5 hours outside of Pittsburgh. We will endeavor to secure carpooling for those who require it.
Registration is required. Please register by clicking here!
*The Hebrew word Kavod approximately translates to “glory,” “respect,” and “honor.”
