The Lion of Judah recognition program began in Miami in 1972 and was introduced to the Pittsburgh community by Hannah Kamin. As a committed philanthropist, an avid fundraiser, and a prominent lay leader, Hannah was the perfect person to bring the idea and the symbol of the gold lion to Pittsburgh. The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh and Women’s Philanthropy thank the Kamin family for their commitment to the preservation and growth of the worldwide Jewish community. The Hannah Kamin Annual Lion of Judah Event has been generously endowed by the Kamin Family in Hannah’s memory and serves to remind us all of the power of women’s philanthropy.
Lion of Judah donors make a $5,000 minimum individual commitment to the Community Campaign. LOJE (Lion of Judah Endowment) participants are women who have created permanent endowment funds in the Foundation to endow their Community Campaign commitments of $5,000 or more, in perpetuity. This event is for women who are Lions of Judah, LOJE participants, or whose household commitment to the Community Campaign is $10,000 or more, or by special invitation.
The full inclusion of people of all abilities is a core value of the Pittsburgh Jewish Community. If you have a disability or need an accommodation, please call or email Julia Blake at firstname.lastname@example.org 412-992-5222.
