Cook Pakoras for Hanukkah and learn about the journey of Food Wanderings: Shulie Madnick. Join us on the last day of Hanukkah to learn about the Jewish community in Mumbai/Bombay that has existed for hundreds of years. Shulie will share about her upbringing and journey to India where she learned more about her heritage and the current Jewish communities in the area.
Our guest, Shulie Madnick, is the author of many wonderful articles, such as: Chasing Challah In Mumbai. You can learn more about her on her website: foodwanderings.com, Insta @Foodwanderings or through her newly released first podcast: “Beyond the Bagel.”
This event falls on the final day of Hanukkah, meaning that the sunset of this night we will light candles for Shabbat and say goodbye to our winter holiday of light. Our time together will also be co-facilitated by OneTable’s Bay Area Field Manager, Maya Katz-Ali, who shares this Indian-Jewish background with Shulie.
OneTable is proud to partner with our friends, JDC Entwine, for this gathering!
Entwine is building a generation of young Jews who lead and live a life of action with global Jewish responsibility at its core. JDC Entwine offers transformative global service and travel experiences, innovative educational programs, and tailored leadership development opportunities through which young people can explore, find meaning, and take action. Entwine is an initiative of JDC, the largest Jewish humanitarian organization in the world. To learn more about JDC Entwine and what they are doing at this time, click here.
Come ready to cook (we’ll send out the ingredient list prior to the event), learn and ask questions!
