With the coming of the Great Flood—the mother of all disasters—only one family was spared, drifting on an endless sea, waiting for the waters to subside. We know the story of Noah, moved by divine vision to launch their escape. Now, in a work of astounding invention, acclaimed writer Sarah Blake reclaims the story of his wife, Naamah, the matriarch who kept them alive.
For our third annual Derekh Speaker Series, we have invited authors from across the country to discuss their books at Beth Shalom. This year’s authors are united in how they uncover hidden stories – stories like those of Naamah on the Ark, race car driving against Nazi Germany, academic fraud in the nation’s top universities, unsung genius women, and an escape from Tzarist Russia gone wrong.
The talks are free and open to the public! Books with signed bookplates are made available from White Whale Bookstore.
This series of talks by five authors from across the country is made available through the Jewish Book Council and funded by Seth Glick and Carolyn Slayton.
