6pm-8pm, May 9th, 2024
With the final verdict against the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting perpetrator in August of 2023, the trial ended. But a new phase has now started: the defendant has begun the appeal process. If trials are somewhat familiar to most of us — a judge, a jury, lawyers, witnesses, and a defendant in a courtroom — appeals are mysterious to almost everyone. Professor David Harris from Pitt’s School of Law and the Legal System Advisor and Educator to the 10.27 Healing Partnership will join us again to explain what appeals are and the function they serve, and what we should expect to see in this case as the appeals process moves forward.
This is the same workshop as the workshop on March 14. If you missed the last one, this is your opportunity to participate and learn! This workshop will be entirely virtual and held on Zoom.
