Classrooms Without Borders presents:
Behind the scenes of Israeli art and artists: Five personal points of view on the relation between art and daily reality in Israel
Diving into the Israeli art world through individual practices rather than through a thematic lens allows a new perspective. It’s an opportunity to see how outstanding individuals grapple with and are effected by personal status, political climate, social issues, economy and more.
Each talk in the series will be dedicated to one artist and a specific medium. Divided into two sections, we’ll start with an engaging overview of the artists’ work and then move into a conversation with the artist.
In the last session we’ll look at the works of Shirel Horovitz, the host of this series to dive into the intersection between artist and educator and at the relations between American and Israeli cultures as they appear through her art.
This discussion series will take place Mondays at 11 am Eastern Time. The dates are July 6, 13, 20, 27, and August 3.
