Pittsburgh JECEI/Bonim Beyachad Pilot Schools Professional Development Series for Early Childhood Educators:

Reggio through a Jewish Lens

What’s the Sound of Shabbat? Exploring the Familiar in New Ways

Facilitated by Morgan Besares Nelson

Temple Ohav Shalom Center for Early Learning
6:30 – 7:00 p.m. Welcome and Site Visit
7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Professional Development Session

What does Shabbat sound like? How does snow move? What does sunlight look like? We are posing questions to the children, to gather information on how the children see and interpret the familiar spaces and practices of our community (Temple/School, family, the places we go), the natural world, and their feelings. As a school wide project, we are hoping to discover with the children new ways of seeing their world, collaborate with one another and build experiences that support the Jewish values of the school.
