And for the third night of Hanukkah, we’ll be taking a winter walk… through the Jerusalem Botanical Garden’s Winter Light Festival! Join us on Instagram (@onetableshabbat) for a takeover with the one and only, Jessica Cohen! Jessica, originally from Argentina and now living in Israel, works as an International Media Manager, an Israeli TV personality, and a Spanish-speaking presenter for the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Winter Lights Festival will cover three-and-a-half of the Jerusalem Botanical Garden’s almost 30 acres, and include light displays, artists and actors in costume, food stands and more. Just our luck, Jessica will be helping us tune in t this for a Hanukkah celebration on Saturday, December 12th.
It’s no coincidence that Hanukkah, or chag urim, the “festival of lights” in Hebrew, falls every year on or near the winter solstice. Most faiths that originated in the ancient Near East, including Christianity, embedded within their religious calendars a practice to create warmth and light at the darkest time of the year. So tell the story, ask questions, eat, drink, and create light by welcoming others to your table.
