SUMMARY:An Evening with Solange Lebovitz\, a Holocaust Survivor
DESCRIPTION:Learn about Holocaust survivor Solange Lebovitz’s experiences as a Jewish child and teen living in occupied France\, hiding from the Nazis and their collaborators. While she was living in hiding\, her other family members were in concentration camps and her brothers were members of the French Resistance. \nSolange was born in 1930 in Paris\, France. She survived by hiding in Normandy with help from a selfless\, brave Catholic couple. In 1952\, she married a fellow Holocaust survivor\, and they then settled in Pittsburgh. Solange has two children\, five grandchildren\, and three great-grandchildren. \nSolange is also an accomplished poet and writer\, and some of her poetry will be read at this event. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask their own questions during the program. \nThis event is a part of RAD Days 2024.

DESCRIPTION:Forest bathing is not about literal baths—the idea is to “bathe” in the sounds and sights of nature. Join the 10.27 Healing Partnership for one or all four sessions of this healing\, consciousness-building forest bathing series. We will take gentle walks through Frick Park while nurturing our connection to the natural world through reflective practices. This program will be led by trained and experienced forest bathing guides from the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. \nWe will meet in the lower area of Frick Park\, entering off of Hutchinson in Regent Square. \nThis program will meet on Sept. 12\, Sept. 19th\, Sept. 26th\, and Oct. 10th from 10am to 11:30am. \nWe recommend wearing clothes and shoes that are comfortable\, but this program will not be an exercise class.  The walking will be slow\, but there may be potential uneven surfaces or stairs on these walks.

DESCRIPTION:We invite Jewish Pittsburgh to join the 10.27 Healing Partnership and the JCC for meditative wellness activities and Jewish learning designed to increase thoughtfulness\, care\, and introspection. We will end the program with a communal shofar blowing to kick off this year’s Season of Hope! \nThis year the High Holidays will take place in close proximity with both the commemoration of October 27th and the first year commemoration of October 7th. We hope this program will help us all to embrace all the different facets of this season\, from sorrow to joy. \nThis event will take place from 5:30pm-7:30pm on September 3rd\, 2024 on the third floor of the JCC in Squirrel Hill.
