Associate Vice President of Development

POSITION SUMMARY
Position Summary:
The Associate VP of Development is a key leader within the organization and is responsible for creating and implementing an innovative development strategy that supports the mission, vision, and overarching goals of the Jewish Federation. This role oversees the teams responsible for the Annual Campaign, Missions, Development Operations, planned giving, and endowment efforts, ensuring that all fundraising areas are aligned with organizational objectives. As a leader in our organization, you will inspire and motivate the development team, ensuring that team members effectively carry out their responsibilities. Your leadership and coaching will be instrumental in our success.
Essential Functions:
- Strategy and Operations: Develop and execute an innovative development plan and vision within a fully integrated philanthropy model. Lead the implementation of the annual integrated development strategy, oversee the day-to-day operations of all fundraising streams, most notably the Annual Campaign, Foundation, Government grants, Corporate Giving, and special projects, and manage key performance metrics related to fundraising efforts.
- Philanthropy and Donor Stewardship/Cultivation: Cultivate and solicit a portfolio of high-potential prospects and donors for the annual campaign, endowment, and other relevant income streams.
- Center for Philanthropic Impact: Play a pivotal role in conceptualizing and building a new premiere offering within the Foundation, focused on engaging high-net-worth donors.
- Volunteer Management: Identify, recruit, organize, and train volunteers to support development goals, ensuring a steady flow of qualified leaders.
- Programs and Events: Oversee major donor strategy as it relates to events and outreach initiatives, ensuring effective donor engagement and evaluating effectiveness for ROI.
- Collaboration: Actively collaborate with the Associate Vice President of Development and Foundation and the Chief Development Officer to synergize fundraising strategies and donor engagement efforts, ensuring alignment with the Federation's overall objectives.
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong leadership, operational, and strategic thinking skills.
- The emotional intelligence, maturity, and sound judgment necessary for interacting with donors, volunteers, and staff. A results-driven leader with exemplary organizational skills necessary to plan and implement strategic initiatives as well as inspire and motivate others.
- Proven track record of successful major gift fundraising and development department operations.
- Expertise in donor relationship management
- Experience in coaching and managing successful teams.
- Deep understanding of Jewish community culture and practices, with a passion for the Federation’s mission.
Education, Training, or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Jewish Communal Service, Public Administration, Non-profit Management, or a related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in development, including major gift development and donor stewardship.
- A proven record of stewarding and closing gifts of $10,000+ is required.
- Managerial experience and a proven track-record of leading and coaching high performing professional teams.

COMPENSATION
This position has a competitive hiring range of $120,000 to $160,000 a year commensurate with experience.
