Chesed 4 Karmiel/Misgav

Pittsburgh is With You

In the wake of the tragic events that occurred on October 7, 2023, our hearts are heavy as we stand in solidarity with our sister cities of Karmiel and Misgav, Israel. Pittsburgh's connection to these communities runs deep, and we grieve alongside them for the lives lost in the acts of terror and the continued suffering of the hostages and their families.

We equally celebrate for those who have been released!

Let us all commit to doing Chesed, acts of kindness, in the merit of those still in captivity for their safe return.

Acts of Kindness

Rachel L.

I will volunteer babysit for my neighbors.

Aaron P.

There’s a man that I often see in the grocery store who wants to schmooze. I will make more time to chat with him.

Prayer for the Rescue of Captives

The One who blessed our ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Joseph, Moses and Aaron, David and Solomon, may they bless and safeguard and preserve the captives: (name of captive(s)) among their brethren in the House of Israel in trouble and captivity. In the merit of the prayers of this holy assemblage who pray for them, may the blessed Holy One shower compassion over them, deliver them from darkness and strife, remove their bondage, deliver them from their afflictions, and return them speedily to their families. "Let them give thanks to Adonai for God’s lovingkindness, and for God’s miracles to the children of Adam." (Psalms 107:31) And establish for them that what is written,

And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion, and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; They shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. (Isaiah 35:10)

And let us say, Amen.
