With Rabbi Leon Morris, President of Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies
Hope can be challenging to cultivate at any time, but all the more so in the aftermath of war and violence. Yet, the obligation of hope is deeply ingrained in our biblical and rabbinic tradition. Some of the best examples can be found in sources that are distant to most of us—tachanun, messianism and mourning for the Temple.
Rabbi Leon Morris, a renowned teacher and leading voice in contemporary Jewish learning, will guide us as we mine texts and practices that can offer us and our communities’ insight and wisdom toward resilience and strength.
This study session is in memory of the eleven lives lost on October 27, 2018: Joyce Fienberg, Richard Gottfried, Rose Mallinger, Jerry Rabinowitz, Cecil Rosenthal, David Rosenthal, Bernice Simon, Sylvan Simon, Dan Stein, Irving Younger and Melvin Wax.
May their memories be for a blessing.
