Our Partners

Through collective giving, the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh joins other Jewish Federations to support shared goals relating to needs in Israel and overseas by funding three international organizations:

The American Joint Distribution Committee

Sponsoring programs of rescue, relief and renewal around the globe

www.jdc.org

The JDC:

  • Provides life-sustaining assistance to more than 100,000 impoverished Jews in the former Soviet Union, Central and Eastern Europe, and elsewhere
  • Helps to rebuild communities worldwide, renewing a sense of Jewish heritage in communities where Judaism had all but disappeared
  • In Israel: helps to advance quality of life, equality of opportunities, and reduction of gaps in Israeli society
JAFI Jewish Agency for Israel

The Jewish world’s first responder, addressing emergencies in Israel and rescues Jews in countries where they are at risk.

www.jewishagency.org

For 90 years, the Jewish Agency has worked to overcome the biggest challenges facing the Jewish people. They founded and built the State of Israel, and they continue creating links globally—bringing Jews to Israel and Israel to Jews.

As the needs for world Jewish education evolve, JAFI is focusing on the following major strategic objectives:

  • Diaspora-to-Israel connection
  • Israeli-to-Diaspora connection
  • Aliyah and integration
  • Supporting Vulnerable Populations in Israel
World ORT

A global education network driven by Jewish values.

www.ort.org

The ORT network now reaches 300,000 people a year in more than 30 countries. They provide a combination of high-level science and technology education with strengthened Jewish identity; bridging the gap between ability and opportunity – and ensuring the continuity of Jewish life worldwide.

Founded in Tsarist Russia in 1880, to provide employable skills for Russia's impoverished Jews, ORT now focuses on:

  • Training in essential trades and professions
  • Education in high-level science and technology
  • Strengthening Jewish identity all over the world
