New Federation Board Helps Ensure Community Well-Being

Over the last several weeks, our Federation hosted a series of three informational webinars for our community.

The topics addressed were:

  1. Jewish Community Security – featuring Brad Orsini (Jewish Federation’s Jewish Community Security Director) and Josh Sayles (Jewish Federation’s Director of Community Relations)
  2. The Resiliency Center – featuring Maggie Feinstein (Resiliency Center Director) and Jason Kunzman (JCC Chief Program Officer)
  3. The One Year Commemoration – featuring Rabbi Amy Bardack (Jewish Federation’s Director of Jewish Life & Learning) and Bob Silverman (Chair of the Community Relations Council)

Each contains important information and I suggest you take some time to watch them online.

Last night, our Federation Board experimented with a revamped model of Board orientation. They convened for nearly four hours to better understand their roles as fiduciaries of our organization and to learn the inner workings of the Federation. While serving as a Board member should be taken as an honor, it also comes with incredible responsibility. The Board of any nonprofit has the ability to make important decisions that can drive an institution’s direction and ensure its well-being through constant oversight. I am really pleased to be part of an institution with Board members who take their responsibilities so unbelievably seriously.

As another reminder, next Thursday is the Federation’s Annual Meeting utilizing our “FEDTalks” format. Like the webinars mentioned above, it provides the opportunity to hear from different people with specific expertise. You can read more about our three presenters and register at jewishpgh.org/annual-meeting.

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom and a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

Thank you to our Corporate Security Partner
