Talya A. Lubit, a co-defendant in the antisemitic and targeted graffiti incident at Chabad of Squirrel Hill and Jewish Federation on July 29, 2024, was sentenced to five years of probation on Wednesday in federal court. She had previously plead to one count of conspiracy and one count of defacing a religious institution. She was ordered to pay over $10,000 in restitution to Chabad, the Jewish Federation and the City of Pittsburgh. Her co-defendant, Mohamad Hamad, is pending trial from the initial Indictment. Hamad and a third defendant, Micaiah Collins, are pending trial from the superseding indictment related to conspiracy to detonating a destructive device and additional counts of lying to agents.
Three of our Jewish organizations received suspicious and threatening letters via US Mail over the past week. These have been reported to Pittsburgh Police and officers are investigating along with the FBI. As of now, we do not have security concerns based on what we know. If that changes, we will immediately notify you. Refer to the below article for more information.
So far in 2025, we have logged 246 incidents in our Virtual Command Center. This compares to 223 for 2024. We continue to collaborate closely with law enforcement to monitor potential threat activity. Please continue to report any suspicious incidents via the Incident Report Form.
