Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to be careful of a fraud scheme in which residents are contacted via phone by an “officer” alerting the victim that they are being issued citations for failing to report to jury duty. The caller then threatens that the victim will be arrested unless they make payment via bitcoin. If you learn of anyone who has been victimized in this scheme, please ask that they call 911 to report it.
