Jarrett Buba, the man who attacked two University of Pittsburgh students in August 2024 has been sentenced to five years probation and will be remanded to a mental health facility until he completes a program supervised by a Judge. See article below for more information.

Pennsylvania State Police will start citing drivers for picking up their phones even at a red-light starting June 6th. The Paul Miller law was put into effect after a tractor trailer hit Paul’s car, killing the 21-year-old. The driver of the tractor trailer was distracted from texting while behind the wheel. So far in 2026 we have 110 logged incidents in our Virtual Command Center which is in comparison to 146 at this time last year (this spike reflects the antisemitic and racist flyering that occurred throughout Squirrel Hill on May 29, 2025). Please continue to report any suspicious incidents to us.

Navigating Digital Threats: Strategies to Prevent Online Child Exploitation
Thursday, July 23 @ 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM EDTAhead of the next school year, please join the Federal School Safety Clearinghouse for a virtual training on preventing and responding to online child exploitation in K-12 communities. This session will feature a panel discussion with experts from the U.S. Department of Justice and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, who will share valuable tools and resources to combat online child exploitation and educate teachers, students and families.
