Please Be Aware
Last evening, the Israeli Defense Forces began a targeted strike against Iranian assets with the stated goal of striking Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and military targets. The operation is ongoing. We are closely monitoring intelligence related to Israel and Iran and will send out the necessary alerts if we learn of any concerns or threats related to Jewish Pittsburgh.
On Saturday, June 14, there are over 70 protests planned throughout Pennsylvania as part of a national demonstration against President Trump’s administration and current policies, referred to as “No Kings Day.” Protests are expected and framed to remain peaceful, however the potential for isolated disruptions cannot be ruled out given the charged political climate and the recent direct action in related protest environments. Pittsburgh events are scheduled to take place outside of the City-County Building at 12:30 PM, followed by a march from Freedom Corner in the Hill District at 2 PM. If you attend and see suspicious or concerning behavior, please call 911 and report to us as well through the Incident Report Form.
FBI and DHS issued a Public Service Announcement warning of increased threats to Jewish and Israeli communities across the US. The alert, Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) | Recent Attacks Highlight Elevated Threat to Israeli and Jewish Communities, follows the recent terrorist incidents in Boulder, Colorado and Washington, DC. While the national alert is cause for vigilance, it does not indicate any immediate or specific threat to the Pittsburgh Jewish community. The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh has been operating under a heightened threat level for some time. We remain in close coordination with law enforcement and security partners and continue to monitor the situation and adjust protective measures as needed. Out of an abundance of caution, we are alerting our security contacts across organizations in Pittsburgh to ensure heightened awareness throughout the community. We urge all community members to remain alert and report any suspicious activity. Incidents may be reported to the Federation at Incident Report Form, to local police by calling 911 and to the FBI at tips.fbi.gov.
So far in 2025, we have logged 164 incidents in our Virtual Command Center. This compares to 151 for 2024. We continue to collaborate closely with law enforcement to monitor potential threat activity. Please continue to report any suspicious incidents via the Incident Report Form.
