The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh welcomes the guilty plea entered by Talya Lubit in connection with the acts of vandalism at Chabad of Squirrel Hill and the Jewish Federation. While this marks a significant step toward justice, we are mindful that there are still two co-defendants, and this remains one chapter in a painful case for our community.
We are grateful to the FBI, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the Department of Justice and all law enforcement partners who acted swiftly and thoroughly to investigate this incident and pursue justice. Their work continues to play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our city.
“We commend the dedicated efforts of law enforcement in identifying the perpetrators and working to bring this case to a resolution,” said Shawn Brokos, Director of Community Security for the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh.
“While we are relieved by this outcome, it is a reminder that we must all remain vigilant. We encourage individuals to report anything suspicious and continue working together to protect one another.”
