Vibrant Pittsburgh & the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh Award $50,000 to Diverse Talent Retention Initiatives

Pittsburgh organizations receive $25,000 grants to help retain diverse talent in the region.

Vibrant Pittsburgh and the Urban Affairs Foundation, part of the Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, have awarded $25,000 grants to two organizations leading initiatives to retain the diverse talent of our region.

“Together, Vibrant Pittsburgh and the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh seek to amplify impactful efforts of organizations retaining talent, specifically diverse talent, in our region,” said Sabrina Saunders Mosby, president and chief executive officer of Vibrant Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area has faced two decades of continued population decline. In part, that decline is attributed to talent migration out of the region. These grants are a catalyst for transformative initiatives aimed at enhancing both the diversity of the Pittsburgh workforce and the overall prosperity of our region,” Mosby emphasized.

The 2023 Mini-Grants award recipients are:

Professional Women’s Network (PWN) aims to empower women to excel in their personal and professional lives. Through curated events and programs that teach, connect, and grow local women, PWN strengthens their ties to the region and one another.

Jewish Family and Community Services (JFCS) supports people through life’s changes and challenges. Through their Barrier Reduction Employment Initiative, a local cohort will learn how to improve job readiness and interview skills to equip them in joining the medical, technology, or education industries.

“We are proud to support these innovative projects that will be addressing diverse talent retention in the greater Pittsburgh region. JFCS and PWN offer invaluable resources and expertise to the community, and it is our hope that support provided through these grants will help grow and amplify their efforts” said Laura Cherner, director of community relations council for the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh.
