Come Together for Tikkun Leil Shavuot

I think I could probably go back through my emails for over a decade and review my weekly message from this same week before the holiday of Shavuot (when we celebrate receiving the Torah), and I would see that I have basically written the same thing every year. One of my most favorite and special evenings for our Pittsburgh Jewish community takes place next Saturday night with our annual Tikkun Leil Shavuot. With Shavuot’s tradition of studying Torah all night long, our community has developed a unique way of bringing teachers from all different backgrounds in front of community members from all different backgrounds for three hours of amazing learning. This is a unique phenomenon that doesn’t happen in many other communities and underscores what a collaborative, unified community we have in Pittsburgh. We came together in our response on October 27th because we come together constantly.

I invite you to review the incredible spectrum of teachers and the topics that you will have the ability to learn. We typically have 500+ community members in attendance and you should be one of them. Thank you to the JCC for their partnership in making this very late night a reality.

And an annual bonus: free cheesecake provided by the Federation!

Shabbat Shalom.
