The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh today announced that Debbie Resnick has been nominated as the next Board Chair, succeeding Jan Levinson, who will be completing three years of leadership in the role. 

“Debbie brings the experience, insight and dedication that this role demands,” said Jeff Finkelstein, President & CEO. “She understands the Federation’s unique role as a connector and catalyst in Jewish life, and she is deeply committed to strengthening that impact for the future. I look forward to working closely with her as we continue to build a vibrant and resilient community.” 

Resnick currently serves as Vice Chair of the Federation’s Board of Directors and on the board of Classrooms Without Borders. She previously chaired the Federation’s Community Campaign and has held numerous leadership positions, including Partnership2Gether Chair and service on key committees overseeing planning and allocations. 

A nationally engaged leader, Resnick serves on the Board of the Jewish Federations of North America and is an International Lion of Judah. She has participated in more than a dozen Federation missions to Israel and most recently, chaired a Federation Solidarity Mission. 

“Federation is the conduit and convener for everything Jewish in our community,” said Resnick. “I’m honored to step into this role and look forward to working together to deepen engagement, strengthen our impact and ensure a vibrant Jewish future for Pittsburgh.” 

Resnick’s commitment to Jewish communal life is rooted in a family legacy of Federation leadership. She has also served as President of CommunityDay School and held leadership roles with the JFNA and the Jewish National Fund. 

Professionally, she spent more than 30 years in education, specializing in speech therapy and supporting students with special needs. She currently serves on the Board of Beacon College. 

Resnick will assume the role of Board Chair in September.
