Jewish Federation’s June 10 CELEBRATION! Event Offers Live, Socially Distanced Laughs by the Carload

In one event, the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh offers the simple pleasure of the all-American drive-in movie and the laughs of a comedy club: The event is CELEBRATION!, a socially distanced occasion — the Federation’s first live event since before the pandemic. Attendees will participate from the safety of their cars as internationally known comedians Craig Robinson and Avi Liberman entertain. CELEBRATION!, a thank-you event for donors to the Federation’s 2021 Community Campaign, will take place at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 10, 301 W. Station Square Dr., Pittsburgh 15219. Admission is $18. The rain date is Sunday, June 13.

Craig Robinson is a stand-up comedian and actor best known for his role as Darryl Philbin on NBC’s Emmy-winning “The Office.” Avi Liberman is the star of the documentary “Land of Milk and Funny” and the comic organizer of “Comedy for Koby.” Both men traveled to Israel on the Comedy for Koby tour, which benefited the Koby Mandell Foundation.

Community Campaign Vice-Chair Ellen Teri Kaplan Goldstein shared her enthusiasm for the event: “After so many virtual get-togethers, I’m excited about seeing people who, through the Federation, do so much good in our community — even if I just see them through a car window,” she said. “The Federation is taking all precautions to protect attendees and staff from COVID while giving us a chance to celebrate our accomplishments together.”

Masks will be required when attendees are not in their own vehicle, and restroom facilities will be provided. Staff will distribute pre-packaged, sealed hors d’oeuvres upon guests’ arrival (dietary laws observed), and water and sparkling water will be available. No alcohol will be served.

CELEBRATION! is sponsored by the Ira and Nanette Gordon (z”l) Endowment Fund of the Jewish Community Foundation of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh.

Invitees are donors who have contributed at least $1,000 to the 2021 Community Campaign as well as legacy fund holders and their adult children.
