By Invitation Only. Registration is Closed.
Pomegranate Society members, Lions of Judah and Forever Lions are invited to a special evening featuring guest speaker Abigail Salisbury, Representative in the PA General Assembly, District 34. Throughout the year, the Jewish Federation engages elected officials from across the political spectrum to present, attend our events and connect with the Jewish community. Maintaining positive relationships and creating allies in government ensures we are safe and faithfully represented. We are very pleased to be featuring Rep. Salisbury, who will speak about antisemitism today through her role as an elected official and as Jewish woman in public office.
Abigail Salisbury was elected to the Pennsylvania House in 2023 and represents the 34th Legislative District in Allegheny County. Salisbury was born in Conneaut, Ohio and later moved to a suburb of Erie. She graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 2004, the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2007, and Pitt’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs in 2013. Salisbury worked on human rights issues in Kosovo, Senegal, and Ethiopia.
She served as the executive director of JURIST.org and taught First Amendment law at the University of Pittsburgh. She later established a reduced-cost law practice for nonprofits and small businesses in Swissvale. She served on the Swissvale Borough Council for five years, spending two years as council president. Key issues for Salisbury include updating infrastructure, standing up for human rights for all citizens, fostering small business development, supporting public schools, and preserving the environment. Salisbury lives with her husband and their three adopted dogs in Swissvale.
