Silent Tears, The Last Yiddish Tango is based on poems, testimonies, and writings of women who survived the Holocaust. The album reached #1 on World Music Charts Europe in 2023, becoming the first Yiddish recording ever to top the chart. The project began when Dr. Paula David launched a poetry program to help elderly Holocaust survivors deal with long-term trauma from the horrific crimes they endured in their youth.

Silent Tears, created by Payadora Tango, composer Rebekah Wolkstein and journalist/producer Dan Rosenberg, also includes works based on Holocaust survivor Molly Applebaum’s diary and memoir, Buried Words about her experience in hiding underground in rural Poland during the Holocaust.

From inspiring songs about survival to mournful laments, this award-winning program conveys an almost indescribable depth of emotion rarely sung about.
