Supporting Those in Need

The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh has sent $13,700 to support relief efforts in Florida so far, and we’ll continue to assist rebuilding efforts.

When war erupted in Ukraine, The Jewish Federation’s international partnerships allowed for a quick and direct response to the millions rendered homeless and without aid.

A recent olah (immigrant) to Israel from Ukraine, Arina fled from Kharkiv to Lviv, then crossed the Polish border to Warsaw on foot; she now resides at The Jewish Agency’s absorption center in Carmiel.

Jewish Federation’s support of the JFCS fed the body and soul of Rocco, a 65-year-old stroke survivor who suffered from food insecurity and isolation.

Jason, who has intellectual disabilities and is nonverbal, has a hard time understanding the need for social distancing. Thanks to Federation funding, he has the support he needs to get through these confusing times.

Leanne works as a hair care therapist at the Jewish Association on Aging, one of the Federation’s beneficiary agencies, helping residents look and feel good.
