At the Jewish Federation, we believe in helping you multiply that impact. That’s why we stretch your donations by using the money to leverage corporate, foundation, government and additional private dollars. Your $1 more than triples—last year alone, $14.2 million in Community Campaign dollars became more than $45 million in total fundraising.

How does that work? One example: your support enabled us to start the 10.27 Healing Partnership to support people experiencing trauma after the October 27, 2018 shooting attack on three congregations. Our whole community benefits from access to those resources. Once we established the 10.27 Healing Partnership, we helped them apply for Federal government funds that paid for this resiliency center’s work until today.

Seed funding and grant-writing assistance also go a long way to help support those in need. In a recent example, the Jewish Federation helped to bring the Jewish Fertility Foundation to Pittsburgh. This organization will help families with frustrating medical fertility challenges through financial assistance, education and emotional support.

Your contributions toward the Community Campaign have made an impact in so many other areas, including:

• Keeping people safe through $3.3+ million in security grants since 2020 from state and federal sources
• Connecting kids to Jewish life by sending them PJ Library books and music inspired by Jewish values through our partnership with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation
• Freeing up money to help those in need by providing health insurance savings for employees in community organizations that belong to the Federation’s Jewish community health plan

Multiplying your impact can also mean non-monetary support. We’re building a safer, more inclusive world by making free risk assessments and security training available to any organization that asks. Programs such as Federation’s Countering Active Threat Training (CATT) provide community members with the necessary skills to de-escalate situations, respond to active threats and much more.

Right now in Israel, you have a voice in guarding Israel’s democratic values through the Israel Religious Express Platform (iRep), in which our Pittsburgh Federation works together with other communities to influence a range of issues, promoting meaningful change to the religion-state status quo and advancing religious freedom.
