That’s why the Adult Jewish Learning program helps Pittsburghers keep exploring Jewish ideas and traditions throughout their lives. Classes are taught by Rabbi Dr. Danny Schiff, the H. Arnold and Adrien B. Gefsky Community Scholar.

The year-round offerings connect Jewish tradition with the questions people are asking today. Upcoming classes include “Contemporary Jewish Ethics,” “Verdict at Nuremberg,” “Modern Living: Maintaining Balance” and “13 Core Beliefs That Make Judaism What It Is.”

Students can explore Jewish law, history, ethics and theology through accessible introductions to classical texts and what they mean for modern life. The program also examines Jewish perspectives on democracy, civil disobedience, medical ethics and artificial intelligence.

The learning extends beyond the classroom, too. An extensive archive of recorded classes lets people learn on their own schedule, and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses give attorneys another way to take part.
