MEGA MISSION: One Year Later

MEGA MISSION experienced firsthand the impact of Jewish Federation in Israel

Last year, participants got to see up close how their impact matters. During the MEGA MISSION trip to Israel, participants visited various sites sponsored by the Federation and experienced some valuable programs and initiatives firsthand. The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh’s Community Campaign would not be able to strengthen Jewish life, support those in need, and build a safer, more inclusive world without your support.

The Jewish Federation has built various programs to assist vulnerable segments of Israeli society such as the older adult population, many of whom are Holocaust survivors, low-income seniors and people with disabilities. The Community Campaign also helps youth in need of additional support and funds programs promoting a shared society (co-existence) between Jewish and Arab citizens of Israel. Additionally, through Partnership2Gether—a joint initiative with the Jewish Agency for Israel—we are strengthening our connection with our sister cities of Karmiel/Misgav. These, and many other important initiatives are all made possible by your generous donations.

MEGA MISSION participants met students from the Former Soviet Union (including Ukraine) who recently arrived in Israel and attended their Teudat Zehut (Israeli ID card) ceremony. These new immigrants are participants in the Federation-funded, nine-month-long Selah Program (through the Jewish Agency) which helps them integrate into Israeli society by providing Hebrew language instruction, and university and IDF preparatory courses.
