A Joyful Reunion
In October 2025, just two months after the Games, more than 300 athletes, coaches, volunteers and families reunited in Pittsburgh to relive the magic of the Maccabi experience. The reunion featured highlight reels, shared stories and a moving tribute to the volunteers and security teams who made the Games possible. It was a powerful reminder of the bonds that had been formed and the pride that still resonated throughout the community. For many, it was not just a reunion—it was a reaffirmation of identity, belonging and the enduring spirit of Jewish unity.
From August 3 to 8, 2025, Pittsburgh hosted the inaugural JCC Maccabi Campus Games, turning the University of Pittsburgh into a vibrant hub of Jewish youth, community and competition. Nearly 2,000 teens from 90 global communities came together to live, play and connect in a joyful, secure environment.
At the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, we believe in creating inclusive spaces where Jewish youth can explore their identity without fear, and safety was central to the event’s success. Thanks to $3 million raised locally and your generous support, the Games were not only safe—they were unforgettable. You helped create a powerful moment of unity, pride and Jewish identity that will resonate for years to come. “Security Central,” a dedicated command center, coordinated efforts across seven venues:
- University of Pittsburgh
- Carnegie Mellon University
- Shady Side Academy
- No Offseason Sports Complex
- Schenley Park Oval
- Ice Castle Arena
- PNC Park
The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh’s Community Security team worked with five private security firms and more than 20 local, state and federal agencies. Alan Hausman served as on-site liaison, coordinating with four levels of Homeland Security including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the City of Pittsburgh Office of Homeland Security. Security measures included drone detection by Air Sentinel, a Temporary Flight Restriction during the Closing Ceremonies with FBI oversight, seven Packetalk camera trailers with license plate recognition, explosive sweeps, plainclothes officers and 110 secure radios for staff communication.
The October reunion was more than a celebration—it was a continuation. It brought full circle the spirit of the Campus Games, reminding everyone that the connections forged in August didn’t end with the medals or the closing ceremonies. They lived on in shared memories, renewed friendships and a collective sense of purpose.
