In a time of turmoil, the people of Israel are experiencing significant loss and suffering due to recent missile attacks from Iran and the ongoing “Operation Rising Lion.” As missile strikes continue, communities are devastated and lives are lost. However, the spirit of solidarity remains strong. By coming together to support one another, we can emerge more resilient. Your continued support enables the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh to respond swiftly and effectively to assist civilians during this critical period.

Prior to the heightened crisis, our global partners on the ground were mobilizing resources to ensure urgent needs are met. Organizations like the Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), continue to deliver crucial support directly to those affected. Our impact is felt in several key areas:

  • Assisting Displaced Families: Thousands of civilians have suffered significant losses, and our initiative is providing vital necessities such as food, clothing and shelter to those who have been forced from their homes.
  • Supporting Children in Shelters: Many children are trapped in shelters, facing unimaginable fear and uncertainty. We are supplying mental health support and calming activity kits to help them cope and find moments of relief amidst the chaos.
  • Caring for Homebound Seniors: Vulnerable populations, including seniors, are particularly at risk during these times. Our emergency caseworkers are reaching out to deliver food packages and ensure the safety and well-being of those who cannot leave their homes.
  • Assisting Israel Experience Program Participants: Young adults and students from abroad whose programs have been interrupted are also on our minds. We are providing them with essential support, including food, housing and financial assistance, ensuring they have a pathway back home when the situation allows.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh is ready to respond to the urgent needs of our community. Together, through our compassion and support, we can help rebuild lives in Israel and demonstrate the unwavering strength of our bonds as a people.
