Impact Stories:

Welcoming Jewish Babies From Day One. That’s Federation.

A simple idea. Three years of persistence. One beautiful beginning.

Every new baby is a promise of the future. What if our Jewish community could help welcome that future from the very beginning?

Last week, that vision became a reality.

New baby gift boxes were just delivered to Magee Women’s Hospital. Each includes a welcome message from the Federation, a custom magnet linking parents to Jewish resources, a muslin blanket, wooden milestone rings to mark baby’s first year and Jewish holidays and a PJ Library board book.

These boxes will be given by nurses to mothers who self-identify as Jewish, reaching an estimated 300 families each year. The Federation will continue replenishing the supply to ensure that every eligible family receives this meaningful welcome.

That’s welcoming.
That’s belonging.
That’s Federation.

This project took persistence, creativity and collaboration. What began as one idea grew through teamwork across departments including Jewish Life and Learning, Marketing, PJ Library, Community Engagement and Development.

When we work together, our impact grows.

It starts with a box.

It builds a community.
