Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh Approves $225,000 for Israel Emergency Response

Funding to assist Israelis impacted by the recent attacks connected to Operation Roaring Lion

The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh’s Board of Directors has approved $225,000 in emergency funding to assist Israelis impacted by the recent attacks connected to Operation Roaring Lion. The funds will support the Jewish Agency for Israel’s Operation Roaring Lion Fund.

Since the beginning of the war on Saturday, February 28, the Jewish Agency has reported significant needs across affected communities. In the city of Beit Shemesh alone, hundreds of residents have been evacuated from their homes, and thousands of Israelis have already registered claims for injuries and property damage.

The Jewish Agency’s Operation Roaring Lion Fund provides immediate financial assistance, trauma support and long-term recovery services to individuals and families affected by terror attacks.

“In moments like these, our community stands with the people of Israel,” said Jeff Finkelstein, CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh. “Through the Jewish Agency’s Operation Roaring Lion Fund, this support will provide individuals and families with urgent care immediately and help them to begin to rebuild.  Our collective Federation approach enables this vibrant response.”

The Federation works closely with the Jewish Agency to ensure emergency resources reach affected communities quickly during times of crisis and war.
