The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh welcomes today’s September 10, 2025 sentencing of Talya Lubit. Justice has been served for an attack that was not just vandalism, but a deliberate act of antisemitism targeting our community.
While we recognize that two additional co-conspirators are awaiting trial in this case, today is a positive first step forward towards justice.
We are grateful to the Department of Justice, the FBI and local law enforcement for their thorough investigation and commitment to ensuring accountability. Their work reminds us that hate has no place in Pittsburgh or anywhere in our country.
As COO Jessica Brown Smith said in our victim impact statement:
“This crime was not simply graffiti on a building. It was a deliberate act of antisemitism intended to intimidate and retraumatize an entire community. Because of the Federation’s central role in Pittsburgh’s Jewish communal life, the attack was not only against a building but against the heart of a community.”
We remain steadfast in our mission to strengthen Jewish life and to build bridges of understanding and respect across Pittsburgh. Today’s sentencing is an important reminder that hate will be met with justice, and our community will continue to stand strong.
