Tomorrow marks one month of Israel’s War with Hamas, as heavy fighting continues in Gaza. It is confirmed that 31 Israeli soldiers have been killed since the ground offensive began, and 242 hostages are being held by Hamas in Gaza. In addition, over the last week, the IDF has struck more than 2,500 Hamas targets by land, air and sea.

There have been several incidents of antisemitic graffiti this week in the Squirrel Hill area as well as Summerset Park.
At the end of the fourth week of the war with Hamas, the IDF has confirmed 23 soldiers dead in battles inside Gaza since the ground incursion began.
More than three weeks into Israel’s War with Hamas, heavy fighting continues in Gaza. Eighteen Israeli soldiers have been killed, as well as hundreds of terrorists. Israel’s updated official numbers are now saying that at least 242 Israelis are still being held captive by Hamas in Gaza.

You may be aware of the recent string of antisemitic vandalism this week including the defacing of “We Stand With Israel” signs, anti-Israel graffiti in front of Taylor Allderdice High School and antisemitic graffiti in the Summerset neighborhood.
We at the Jewish Federation are angered and sickened by these repeated attacks but reinvigorated to combat the escalating wave of antisemitism in a community that previously experienced the worst antisemitic attack in U.S. history.
Today we commemorate five years since the attack at the Tree of Life building that violently took 11 lives from our Jewish community.
On day 19 of Israel’s War with Hamas, rockets continue to be fired at Israel, reaching as far south as Eilat and as far north as Haifa.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh is angered and disgusted by the acts of antisemitic graffiti and vandalism in our region yesterday.
On Oct. 27, 2023, we join people across Pittsburgh to remember the eleven people killed in the antisemitic attack on Congregation Dor Hadash, New Light Congregation and Tree of Life Congregation five years ago.
