While there are no known threats to the Pittsburgh Jewish community, there are two legitimate media reports to be aware of.

Law enforcement cautions that hoax bomb threats and swatting incidents targeting Jewish organizations across the country will continue throughout Yom Kippur.

There have now been 49 synagogues in 13 states evacuated due to hoax bomb threats in the past two months.

The penalty phase of the synagogue shooting trial is underway.

Please Be Aware Monday will start the third and final phase of the synagogue shooting trial, the penalty phase. The government will present several days of testimony, largely victim impact statements, followed by approximately one week of defense witnesses. The hate crime trial remains in the death penalty qualification stage.

The defendant in the federal hate crime trial was convicted on June 16th of all 63 counts in the federal indictment.

The jury continues to deliberate in the federal hate crime trial. We are actively monitoring social media and our physical spaces for any potential threats or concerns.

The Defense will present its case in the federal hate crime trial next week.

Testimony over the next few days is expected to be increasingly difficult as law enforcement will be testifying to details of that morning and what they witnessed.

A jury has officially been selected and the hate crime trial starts on May 30th at 9am.
